James and the Giant Peach

James and the Giant Peach is a popular children’s novel which was written by Roal Dhal in 1961. The main characters are James, Aunt Sponge and Spiker, the old man, the Centepede, the Earthworm, the Old Green Grasshopper, the Lady bug, Miss Spider, the Glowworm and the Silkworm.

James and the giant peach is about a young boy called James whose parents died in a car. He is then forced to live with his lazy Aunt Sponge and Spiker. They force James to be his slaves. Until one day an old man gave him a peach seed. He put the seed in the ground. The seed grows over night growing into a large peach tree. Inside the giant peach is a centipede, a grasshopper, a spider, a ladybug, glowworm and a silkworm. Then the peach rolls through the town and then falling off a cliff and into the ocean. James and the insect capture some seagulls and make them fly the peach to the centre of the park where the seed of the peach was the centre attraction of the park. The insects make a house out of the seed and James decides to join them.

Iliked this book as it was very actioned packed and adventurous. I recomend this book to ages 9 to 13.
